Long time, no posts.

Wow, I haven't posted for about 7 weeks now- i've just been too busy with laying in bed all day; it's very time consuming. I have also done lots of shopping, therefore I have lots of new clothes to post about, but I don't really know where to start! So here is an outfit I wore this weekend.

Vintage blouse and night cape, homemade skirt and earings.
Sweetie jar necklace: chicki.co.uk
Apologies for my **** photograpy skills once again-there's plenty more where that came from!

Tokidoki

Woohoo it's my birthday in two weeks and three days, for my birthday I am getting.... TOKIDOKI! Have officially ordered these two tops these two tops:
I absolutelly adore them; Simone Lengo is my favourite designer, I have a Tokidoki bag which is the most amazing item I own, my friends think i've gone mad- and I wont deny it. I have gone insane with the whole different world of brightly coloured Japanese kawaii, a world (and this is what I especially love about my bag) that you can stare at for hours, thinking you've noticed every detail, but you really haven't. Suddenly one day you'll notice another cute character or accent of colour and it'll just blow your mind all over again. On the surface the designs and characters appear to be all sweetness and light, but their world is designed to show a deeper meaning, not just a pretty picture but a real soul and message; these cactus pups are cutesy dogs that have to dress in their spikey cactus costumes to protect themselves from the dangers of the outside world.
Another set of characters are Adios and his girlfriend Ciao Ciao. They appear to be all about death but in actual fact they are the opposite. Condemned to live forever on earth they wander around teaching others about how to make the most of life.

I just found this uber cute video of them but my computer wont let me download it, so here's the link: http://www.tokidoki.it/tildeath/

I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am about owning these T-shirts, which may sound obbsessive, and yes, yes it probably is. But I just find all the Tokidoki characters so amazingly inspiring that I just can't help myself.

Something Fishy

I find fish really interesting, they're so beautiful. They are also interesting because there are a few different types of beautiful fish, similar to different styles of fashion or art: there are some that have beautiful structure such as the one below, which has lovely well-stuctured fins which are shown off to their best due to the use of a simple, neutral colour palette.

Then there are the brightly coloured party-fish, some have beautiful structure and some are more simple however it is always the use of colour that makes them stand out. These are the ones that I tried to find pictures of to inspire me to design some accessories, however along the way a got distracted by another kind of beauty that I want to show some pictures of. This is the stuff that make you feel uncomfortable and even scared, one of these fishy pictures is going to give me nightmares (I guess it's a good job I don't undertake watching scary films too often), but despite this, if you look closely you will realise that they are, in fact, even more beautiful than the obviously beautiful ones; the structure is so incredible and mind-blowing that your gaze is riveted to it; like a gory film that you cant help but stare at even if you feel like screaming. 'spect to these scary dudes.
The problem is however inspiring and amazing I find these pictures I feel like I need to be in a certain mood to work with them and at the moment I think that I need to use some bright colours and make something fun rather than serious. So, it's party-fish time! YAY! PARTY!

I have a few more but I think you get the picture- aren't the kissing ones cute? I want to design something from these but it's probably going to be accessories with more of a literal take on the fish thing, I want to make sure I can actually make something on my limited budget. Watch this space.

New Hair

I had my hair cut short yesterday, 'tis awesome. Then today I went shopping to get a friend's birthday present, promising myself that I would avoid all other distractions and not buy anything for me.

However that resolution lasted all of about twenty seconds, due to these hairclips. At first glance they look completely tacky, but at the second you fall completely in love with them (well at least I did, but then maybe that's just me and they are, in fact, completely tacky, who knows?). They seem to fit really well with my slightly quirky new hairdo and they're just so fun/funny. I mean they're frogs with bow ties, come on!

P.S. apologies for the rubish picture quality again, I really need a better camera.

AMAZINGNESS FROM RIVER ISLAND

I am more than a little bit in L.O.V.E with this belt; the detailing is so random and fun! It's £29.99 so maybe i'll ask for it for my birthday. The little scorpion is amazing!

Summer Shopping Inspiration

I feel like i'm building up to a mahoosive (yes i know that's not a word as I have been told many times before) shopping splurge. I love this picture from chanel:

I love the contrast of the luxurious, girly, OTT clothes and the haybale setting. I can't put my finger on what it is about this mix that I love (methinks I really need to improve my ability to put my thoughts into words if I am to pass GCSE english) but it has something to do with what I said in my post about individuality; if you saw this girl checking into a five star hotel then I would probably assume her to be some kind of royalty, (and without meaning to offend anyone who dresses like this because I personally love this look and I am merely trying to illustrate my point about the contrast, in a very roundabout and offensive way) someone who would pull out a diamond encrusted bottle of hand sanitizer if she came into contact with another human being. But by setting the picture on top of a haybale my whole opinion of this woman is changed and the look seems much more wearable and fun- which is just what fashion should be! Gonna be looking for lots of lace and jewells when I hit the shops-YAY!

New dress

Ok, I admit, this is quite a bad photo, but my camera is being wierd, so this is your lot for now, maybe i'll get a better picture to put up tomorrow. Anyways, this is kinda where my style is at at the moment. I bought the dress a couple of days ago (a bargain at half price) and i'm totally in love with it; it's all lacey and pretty and yummy! But I wanted to add a twist to the rather girly dress (not that girly is bad), so I wore it with neon pink tights, my iced gem earings and top hat hairclip. I think this is my favourite thing to experiment with at the minuite, lace in neutral shades, with a flash of colour to give the outfit a pop. Well thats all for now, tell me what you think.
